The history of Dr. Phillips dates back to the late 1800s when the area was primarily used for agriculture and cattle grazing. The area was named after Dr. Philip Phillips, a wealthy citrus grower and philanthropist, who owned much of the land in the area.


In the early 1900s, Dr. Phillips began to develop his land, planting citrus groves and building a large home, which still stands today and is known as the Dr. Phillips House. He also built a school and a church, and donated land for the construction of a hospital, which is now known as the Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.


In the 1970s, the area began to experience a population boom, as more and more people moved to the area to take advantage of the nearby attractions and opportunities for employment.
